Associate Spotlight

This month's inspiration comes from Danaya Dawkins,
Program Specialist for Associate Wellness, who recently completed
the Brooklyn Half Marathon on May 17th!

What wellness activities are you involved in and what motivated you to get started?
I am involved in many fitness activities; running, walking, going to the gym, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, etc. I enjoy moving my body and the benefits to my physical, and more importantly, my mental health. I became involved to engage in physical activity in 2023. I was planning for a vacation and wanted to lose a few pounds, and in turn, I fell in love with moving my body and the positive changes I began to experience.

Can you share the steps you took to achieve your goal?
I incorporated fitness as part of my daily routine, including getting to work. I created a schedule and stuck to it. Over time, it became a part of my routine, and I had to find ways throughout my day to be active.

Do you have any words of advice or encouragement for other associates who want to make a change to improve their health?
Identify your reason "why". Whether that be for your family or children, to improve your overall health, or to build better habits. Whatever your reason is, remind yourself of the reasons on the days you want to give up. Also, remember that change does not happen overnight; choose to show up for yourself daily. You're your best investment.
